FALLS CREEK, Pa. -- Goodwill Industries of North Central Pennsylvania started a greenhouse program to help those with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Clearfield County.

The program started two years ago and has quadrupled in size since.

"We are growing and seeding success with Goodwill every day because every time we come in something else is popping up," Heather Cyphert, greenhouse director, said.

"Seeding Success" is a small business program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Tyler Duttry plants seeds and cares for the plants. The greenhouse has over 600 tomato plants growing.

We asked Duttry what his favorite part was. He said the tomatoes.

"It just gives them something to see from seed to plant to product," Cyphert said. "It gives them a sense of accomplishment and they like being outside and doing different things every day."

Duttry is from Brockway. He was the first to take part in the greenhouse and sells his vegatables and plants at farmer's markets in Brockway and DuBois; He even has a garden of his own.

"My garden has carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, and sweet corn," Duttry said. "My dad and I work on it together."

Goodwill said all the money raised from selling the plants goes back to the greenhouse. They said it's not about the money, it's about what the greenhouse can do for the people who care for it most.

"Everything in the greenhouse is my favorite part," Duttry said.

Goodwill is looking to build another greenhouse. They hope to raise the money through their annual golf tournament and flower sales on Mother's Day.
