On remote trail, man stumbles upon heavy, mysterious object possibly from outer space

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A Haywood County man is sharing his story after just discovering a strange object that may have been from outer space. So far, the object hasn’t been inspected by aerospace experts, but the discovery has a lot of people scratching their heads. Justin Clontz, who’s a grounds maintenance worker, found it earlier this week along a remote trail on a property owned byThe Glamping Collective. The unidentified object is about three feet high, and it’s so heavy that the worker had to tow it out of the trail using a lawn mower.

Steelers signing former PSU QB Trace McSorley

Pittsburgh (WJAC) — According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly signing former Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley to their practice squad following the injury to starting QB Kenny Pickett. Pickett left Sunday's game in the second quarter with an ankle injury and underwent surgery Monday morning. He is expected to miss several weeks. The 28-year-old McSorley set numerous records during his time at Penn State and helped lead the Nittany Lions to a Big Ten Championship in 2016.

JOHNSTOWN, PA (WJAC) - Bishop McCort Catholic eighth-grader Bo Bassett tied history this weekend. Bassett won his 8th Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling state championship, a previous record held solely by Nico Cortese from Franklin Regional. Over the course of the three-day tournament, no wrestler went the full length against Bassett. The world champion defeated every opponent he faced by technical fall in the first period. In the first place bout on the 117 lbs mats, Bassett won 19-4 technical fall in the first period.

I.U.P. celebrates federal funding for culinary arts facilities

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (WJAC) — I.U.P. officials are celebrating federal funding for its culinary arts facilities in Punxsutawney. Friday Congressman Glenn Thompson announced $500,000 for the rebuilding and renovations of the facilities. The culinary arts program contributes greatly to the Punxsutawney economy while educating future chefs. Demolition of buildings along West Mahoning Street will begin next spring and the president of I.U.P. says this funding solidifies confidence in the program. "This is significant in two senses.
