Louisiana considers requiring Ten Commandments in schools
WASHINGTON (TND) — Louisiana is close to becoming the first state to mandate the display of the Ten Commandments in schools and universities. If the governor signs the proposed bill into law, any publicly funded educational institution would be required to prominently display the Ten Commandments on a poster or framed document. The bill specifies that the display must be at least 11 by 14 inches, with the text being the central focus, printed in a large, easily readable font.
Lt. Governor John Fetterman unblocks two men from twitter, refuses apology
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman is responding to the two men he previously blocked on Twitter, for ‘unwelcomed comments’ towards his family.
Fetterman’s response:
You and your clients appear willing to squander taxpayer resources in this frivolous endeavor. In this, and in every instance, my first instinct is to avoid this waste whenever possible. Your clients’ unblocked status will be revisited if they again target my family with unwelcomed postings on my personal Twitter account.
two individuals charged after wanted fugitive discovered in attic in Somerset County
SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. — Two people are facing felony charges after hiding a wanted fugitive in the attic of a residence in Somerset Thursday morning, state police say.
According to a press release, state police were attempting to serve a warrant for Kody Dunmeyer on the 300 block of Lavansville Road in Somerset when he was located hiding in the attic of the home.
State police Rusty Koval, 35, and Tiffany Weimer, 34, were the only two individuals located on the second floor of the home when they discovered Dunmeyer.
'They think they're in love:' online Romance Scams increasing in Cambria County
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Imagine going on a dating website looking for love, but ending up falling for a scammer.
The "master of disguise" pretends to be somebody else, luring those seeking romance into a "romance scam" instead.
"They want to believe that they have this relationship. They want to believe it."
That's what M. Veil Griffith -- the Administrator for the Cambria County Area Agency on Aging -- told 6 News after seeing an increase in these scams.
Chiefs' Rashee Rice suspected of assault weeks after high-speed crash arrest: Report
DALLAS (AP) — Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice is suspected of assault in Dallas a little over a month after he was one of the speeding drivers in a chain-reaction crash that led to multiple charges, according to a newspaper report Tuesday.
Law enforcement officials told The Dallas Morning News that Rice was suspected of assaulting a person at a downtown nightclub early Monday, and that the person went to a hospital after the encounter.
Goodwill changes donation process during coronavirus pandemic
Cambria County, Pa. (WJAC) — Several Goodwill stores throughout the Southern Alleghenies have opened and are now accepting donations.
Brad Burger, President and CEO of Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies, says they are making changes to their donation process to ensure items are safe to sell.
Burger says all donation drop-offs are now contactless and can be done at donation bins around your area our outside stores. But he says to keep safe social distancing, employees cannot take the donations themselves and they’re asking people to not bring in large items.

DuBois Fire Department's 'sink the tub' tradition continued at Tannery Dam
DUBOIS, Pa. (WJAC) — A DuBois Fire Department tradition continued Wednesday with the "sink the tub" contest at the Tannery Dam.
Firefighters from all five fire companies in the city used their skills to draft water out of the dam into their engine, then use that same water to try to sink a metal wash tub in the middle of the lake.
Thursday’s final competition will be the "standing pump contest"
