Richland Holiday Inn Express sold, owners announce
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Officials with Pasquerilla Enterprises announced Thursday that the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, located along Scalp Ave. in Richland, has been sold.
"The Holiday Inn Express & Suites has served the community since 1986 and we are very proud of the rebuild and grand reopening in 2016. We are encouraged by the buyers and their willingness to invest in the hospitality industry in Greater Johnstown," said Mark Pasquerilla, Chairman & CEO of Pasquerilla Enterprises.
'Tunnel Five Fire' tears through hundreds of acres in Washington, evacuations ordered
UNDERWOOD, Wash. (KATU) — A fast-moving wildfire burning in Skamania County, Washington has forced "Level 3" evacuations for everyone living within a two-mile radius of the blaze, state fire officials said. The Tunnel Five Fire tore through an estimated 540 acres as of Monday afternoon.
Officials said at least 10 homes have been destroyed and 250 remain threatened.
The fire broke out at about 11:20 a.m. Sunday along SR-14 by the community of Underwood.

Dog flu cases on the rise; veterinarians urge vaccination
Flu season is not just affecting humans, dogs are now experiencing a rise in cases of canine influenza.
There have been reports nationwide of a surge in cases this winter that are highly contagious. Experts are urging pet owners to vaccinate their dogs and practice avoidance.
The CDC states that Canine influenza, or dog flu, is a contagious respiratory disease in dogs caused by specific Type A influenza viruses. Currently there are two different influenza A dog flu viruses: one is an H3N8 virus and the other is an H3N2 virus.
Funeral arrangements announced for victims of fatal Westmont house fire
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Officials with Bishop McCort Catholic High School have announced the funeral arrangements for the victims of last week's fatal house fire on Fayette Street in Westmont Borough.
School officials say the funeral Mass for Grant Jeanjaquet and Vindy Kohan will be held Saturday, at 10 a.m., at Our Mother of Sorrows Church located along Tioga Street.
Investigators say Jeanjaquet, an aspiring Navy nurse, was killed in the blaze last Wednesday while trying to escape from the first floor of the home.
Penguins acquire veteran forward in trade with Nashville
Pittsburgh (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Penguins announced late Wednesday that they have acquired veteran forward Mikael Granlund from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 2023 second-round draft pick.
Granlund is signed through the 2024-25 season and his contract carries an average yearly value of $5 million.
"Mikael is a versatile forward, able to play either wing or center, and contribute offensively," said GM Ron Hextall. "He has experience on both the power play and penalty kill and can add options to our lineup.
Students displaced after water break at Penn State Altoona
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Cleanup continues Tuesday after a sprinkler valve ruptured in a Penn State Altoona residence hall and displaced several students.
According to Penn State officials, the sprinkler valve ruptured around 7 p.m. Monday in Cedar Hall, affecting fewer than 60 rooms.
Officials said they’ve been cleaning up since just before 11 p.m. Monday.
They said air dryers and dehumidifiers are being used in each affected room and will continue to run until the building is completely cleaned and dried.
